Introduction
Department of surgery was established with the inception of the continental medical college Lahore.
The department of General Surgery is headed by Prof. Suhail Anjum.
The subject of surgery has been taught right from admission of 1st year MBBS class, in form of integrated teaching program. Teaching surgery to 1st professional MBBS students is carried out in coordination with Professors of Anatomy.
Main teaching obligation is towards 3rd & 4th year MBBS students. Both theory & practical teaching is whole time involvement. Students are regularly posted & imparted bedside teaching according to curriculum & guidelines of Pakistan Medical and Dental council & University of health & Sciences. They are given chances to see & participate in surgical emergencies. This is done with involvement whole department of surgery.
Regular tests & assessments were made during sessions. Students were prepared for tests according to above mentioned University guidelines.

Future Plan
- More advances in Laparoscopic surgeries, which is already in progress
- Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy
- Conduction of research activities, especially for students
- Improvements in teaching methodology as there is always room for space
- More involvement of students in practical works and Seminars on surgical skills
- Organizing medical camps, which are already in progress
